A Maltese delegation representing the Institute for Cellular Pharmacology (ICP Ltd), led by Dr Claire Baluci, participated in an international conference dedicated to retinal diseases held at the Kore University of Enna, in Sicily, on March 23.
The 1st International Sicilian Retina Meeting brought together hundreds of participants and leading experts from across the globe, focusing on the latest advancements in retinal research, including innovative therapeutic approaches, artificial intelligence applications in ophthalmology and emerging treatments for inherited retinal conditions.
The event was co-organised and led by Caterina Gagliano, a distinguished ophthalmologist who heads the Ophthalmic Department at the Università degli Studi di Enna ‘Kore’ and leads the ophthalmology unit at the ‘Morgagni-DSV Eye Centre in Catania.
The programme featured internationally renowned speakers from institutions such as Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia, the National University Hospital in Singapore and Kindai University in Japan.

ICP Ltd’s participation underscores its growing role in international collaboration within the field of scientific and clinical research.
The institute is currently working closely with the Università degli Studi di Enna ‘Kore’ and other partners, including its educational arm ARTA, on cutting-edge research projects aimed at developing innovative therapeutic strategies for a range of ophthalmic conditions.
