IPL publish 27th edition of Malta Hotels Directory

Malta has regained its predominant position as a favoured travel destination.

In 2025, and for the first time, the country hosted more than four million visitors, with the vast majority staying in hotels.

A total of 25.4 million guest nights were recorded – the sharpest increase in the 27-country European Union

Last year saw the continued opening of new properties in all categories of the accommodation sector, particularly boutique hotels; and this is reflected in the 2026 edition of the Malta Hotels Directory.

The 2022 edition saw the introduction of a dedicated boutique hotels section, and this year’s edition sees this section expanded to include 56 of these.

This information and more is available in the just-published 2026 edition of the Malta Hotels Directory. The annual directory was first published in 1999.

The directory is produced by Mosta-based Island Publications on behalf of the Malta Tourism Authority (MTA), and is the official accommodation listing for the islands.

It is distributed internationally by the Authority and is available from its bureaux abroad and all its PR agents dotted around the world, as well as locally from the MTA’s information offices.

The Malta Hotels Directory 2026 may also be downloaded from the Authority’s website.

The 144-page directory lists all licensed hotels, tourist villages, guest houses and hostels on the islands.

The directory was the first local publication to include hotels’ QR codes. This year these codes include a hotel’s logo within it – another first.
