Harvest Technology changes its chairman

Harvest Technology p.l.c. has appointed ICT veteran Simon Montanaro as its new Chairman, following the resignation of Keith Busuttil.

The change, which took effect on Tuesday, sees Montanaro join the board as a non-executive director and legal representative. Busuttil has stepped down from all positions within the company, including his seat on the board.

Harvest did not provide any reason for Busuttil’s departure and thanked him for his years of service.

Montanaro joins the technology group with over 30 years of experience in the telecommunications and ICT sectors. He is best known for his long-standing tenure at Melita, where he began his career in 1991. He served as the provider’s Chief Technology Officer (CTO) for 14 years between 2009 and 2023, while also heading its B2B division.

Montanaro’s appointment follows a period of transition for Harvest Technology, which is a subsidiary of the Hili group. In January, the company parted ways with its CEO George Kakouras, who was subsequently suspended and ultimately dropped by Hili Properties following an internal probe.

The changes mean Harvest has replaced both its top executive and its board chair within the first 60 days of the year.

Harvest has yet to release audited financial statements for 2025, though interim results for the first half of last year suggest the company is struggling.

Revenue in the first two quarters of 2025 fell nearly 20% with gross profit down 31% to €2.38 million. Despite burning through its cash – cash and cash equivalents fell by almost half to €1.3 million by June 30 – the company paid out a €340,000 dividend in April and proposed another similar dividend payment for August.
