FinanceMalta eyes opportunities in US

Investors are increasingly looking for jurisdictions that offer regulatory certainty, specialist expertise and strong global connections.

FinanceMalta is exploring new opportunities to strengthen Malta’s presence in the United States, following enhanced connectivity between the two countries and growing interest in international investment opportunities.

Chairman George Vella said the organisation is working with stakeholders, including the US Embassy in Malta, to explore the possibility of hosting a dedicated financial services event in New York in spring 2027.

The initiative would form part of FinanceMalta’s wider international outreach strategy, following its established presence in key financial centres such as London.

Speaking at FinanceMalta’s annual networking event, Vella said investors are increasingly looking for jurisdictions that offer regulatory certainty, specialist expertise and strong global connections.

“Maintaining Malta’s visibility among investors and decision-makers will be essential to sustaining long-term growth,” he said, adding that closer links with the US provide an opportunity to deepen engagement with North American investors, businesses and professional communities.

FinanceMalta Chief Strategy Officer Dr Bernice Buttigieg also announced the publication of the organisation’s Annual Report for 2025, highlighting the continued growth of the financial services sector, which now employs close to 20,000 people.

She said international promotion remains crucial for attracting investment, talent and business opportunities, as Malta positions itself as a trusted and specialised financial centre in an increasingly competitive global market.
