Trident Trust said it is “just getting started” locally as Malta continues to position itself as a trusted financial services jurisdiction.
Leading financial services firm Trident Trust marked 15 years in Malta on Thursday, June 11, signalling further growth locally as the sector pivots towards higher standards, substance and evolving service lines.
The milestone was commemorated at the firm’s annual networking event at The Sheer Bastion, Senglea, which brought together representatives from across the Maltese financial services community, including legal and advisory firms, clients, regulators and other stakeholders, alongside a delegation of senior colleagues from the wider Trident Trust Group.
Albert Cilia, managing director for Malta and European regional director for funds, told guests the anniversary was “a shared journey” shaped as much by partners across the industry as by Trident’s own teams, after what he described as years marked by “waves of regulatory change, increased scrutiny, shifting global expectations, and, at times, uncertainty.”
Cilia said the office’s ability to take a long-term view was strengthened by Trident’s privately owned structure, which he said enabled decisions “based on principle, not pressure,” while staying focused on building lasting relationships.

Looking ahead, he said Malta was “at a crossroads” as international competition intensifies and expectations continue to rise, but argued the island has the expertise and network to “continue strengthening its position as a respected and trusted financial services jurisdiction.”
Trident Trust Malta operates three MFSA-regulated licensed entities; corporate services, trusteeship and fund administration, alongside complementary services including bookkeeping, and regulatory services including Risk and Internal audit and Liquidation services.
“Our ambition for the next 15 years is clear: to continue building on what we’ve achieved,” Cilia said, adding that the firm aims to work even more closely with partners to help clients achieve their objectives “with confidence, with quality, and with integrity.”
Global managing director Adam Gold said he was “delighted” to be back in Malta for the occasion and credited the local team with building “something meaningful, significant and enduring” over the past 15 years. He noted it has been almost a decade since Cilia joined the group, recalling that the Malta operation was once “a small team working from offices above an underwear shop in Mosta.”

Today, Trident Trust’s local office, based in Trident Park, employs more than 75 people representing 18 nationalities, and forms part of a group operating in more than 25 jurisdictions with roughly 1,100 staff globally. Gold said the Malta office has become an important part of Trident’s wider international network and is among the group’s top performers.
“While we are marking 15 years this evening, in many ways we still feel we are just getting started in Malta,” he said.
