Fundación Mapfre has announced its support for the Promoting Online Protection Project” (P.O.P – Up Project) in collaboration with The Malta Foundation for the Wellbeing of Society (MFWS). This initiative aims to ensure the safety and well-being of children and young people online by creating a safer and more supportive digital environment.

Her Excellency Marie Louise Coleiro Preca, Founder and Chair of The Malta Foundation for the Wellbeing of Society and the Malta Trust Foundation, recently visited Mapfre Middlesea CEO Etienne Sciberras, the representative of Fundación Mapfre in Malta, to present the programme. This collaboration marks a significant step towards enhancing online protection for children and youth.

The P.O.P – Up Project, undertaken by MFWS in partnership with the United Nations Agency – ITU, targets children and youth, who are considered minors from a legal perspective. The project also aims to raise awareness among parents, guardians, policymakers, and industry stakeholders to ensure widespread understanding and contribution towards a common goal of online safety.

Fundación MAPFRE, a private non-profit organization dedicated to improving the health and quality of life of society, will actively collaborate with MFWS on this project. The organization is committed to promoting healthy lifestyle habits through training, dissemination, awareness-raising activities, and prevention within the area of Health Promotion.

The campaign will include the distribution of flash cards to all households in Malta and Gozo, providing guidelines to parents, guardians, and carers, on child online protection. Additionally, the campaign will utilize social media posts and billboards on main roads to raise awareness among all stakeholders. Psychological support for children and parents will be available through schools and specific workshops.

Both Fundación Mapfre and MFWS recognize the complementary nature of their skills and resources and are committed to working together to ensure the successful fruition of the P.O.P – Up Project. This collaboration will strengthen their relationship, unite efforts, and establish a comprehensive framework of action to create a safer digital environment for children and young people.

“We are thrilled to partner with The Malta Foundation for the Wellbeing of Society on the P.O.P – Up Project. At Fundación MAPFRE, we believe in the importance of creating a safe and supportive online environment for children and young people. This collaboration allows us to leverage our resources and expertise to make a meaningful impact on the well-being of our community,” said Sciberras.

Her Excellency Marie Louise Coleiro Preca added: “We are delighted to collaborate with Fundación Mapfre on this vital project. The safety and well-being of our children and young people in the digital world is a top priority. By joining forces, we can create a comprehensive and effective framework to protect and support our younger generations online.”
