Farsons Brewery Experience named runner-up at Malta Tourism Awards 2025

The Farsons Brewery Experience has been named runner-up in the Responsible Tourism Development Award – Visitor Attraction category at the Malta Tourism Awards 2025.

Accepted at the awards ceremony held at the Malta Marriott Resort & Spa on April 14, the recognition marks the latest milestone for the attraction, which opened in April 2023 as Malta’s first professionally curated brewing heritage experience.

Set within a regenerated 7,000-square-metre Grade II listed Brewhouse dating from the 1950s, the experience offers visitors an immersive journey through more than 90 years of Maltese brewing history.

The project represents a decade-long journey from concept to completion. Rather than demolishing the derelict industrial structure, Farsons chose preservation and adaptive reuse – restoring original features while creating a contemporary visitor attraction.

The wider Brewhouse development now includes hospitality venues, event spaces  and co-working areas, contributing to urban regeneration in the Central Business  District.

“This recognition reflects years of careful work and our belief that heritage and hospitality belong together,” Adolf Vella, business manager at The Brewhouse, said. “We set out to preserve an important part of Malta’s industrial history while creating something that visitors and locals can enjoy year-round. Seeing that approach recognised at this level is extremely encouraging.”

The project has also received multiple international design awards, including International Project of the Year at The Building Awards 2024 and Best Use of Colour at the World Architecture Festival 2024.

The Malta Tourism Awards programme recognises excellence across the tourism sector, promoting high-quality service and sustainable growth. For The Brewhouse Co. Ltd, a subsidiary of Farsons Group, the runner-up placing underlines the company’s long-standing commitment to tourism that generates lasting value for Malta.
