Italy’s Eni has announced a significant new gas discovery offshore Libya, with estimates pointing to around one trillion cubic feet of recoverable resources, reinforcing the country’s role as a key supplier in the Mediterranean energy landscape.
The discovery, confirmed in parallel by Libya’s National Oil Corporation, forms part of ongoing exploration efforts aimed at boosting production capacity and stabilising output in a market increasingly focused on regional energy security.
For MedservRegis, the development carries direct relevance. Eni North Africa remains a major client of the Malta-based logistics group, which provides offshore support services through its facilities in Malta as well as its recently reactivated base in Misurata.
The renewed momentum in Libyan upstream activity is expected to translate into increased demand for integrated logistics, warehousing and supply base operations; areas in which MedservRegis has positioned itself as a regional operator.
While Libya’s energy sector continues to operate within a complex geopolitical framework, the latest discovery signals a potential uplift in activity levels, with positive spillovers for service providers linked to exploration and production in the central Mediterranean.
