Atlas Insurance and the Malta Sports Journalists Association (MSJA) have renewed their partnership for the seventh consecutive year, continuing their joint commitment to recognising young athletes who are already making a mark in their respective disciplines.
Seven years on, the Atlas Youth Athletes of the Month Awards have grown beyond a monthly ceremony and have become a consistent platform that highlights the importance of identifying and acknowledging sporting talent at an early stage when encouragement, visibility and belief can make a measurable difference.
Matthew von Brockdorff, CEO and Managing Director of Atlas Insurance, welcomed the renewal of the partnership stating: “For Atlas Insurance, the continued support of the Youth Athlete Awards reflects a broader belief in investing in people and communities, not just initiatives. Supporting sport at youth level is a practical way of contributing to long-term social and sporting development. The Malta Sports Journalists Association, through its role in evaluating and recognising performance, ensures that the awards remain credible, relevant and firmly rooted in sporting merit.”
The President of the Malta Sports Journalists Association, Dr Antvin Monseigneur, thanked Atlas Insurance for the fruitful cooperation as he commented further: “This agreement renewal stands as a strong testament to the trust and mutual respect that the Malta Sports Journalists Association has proudly built with Atlas Insurance over the years. It reflects not only the strength of our partnership but also our shared commitment to supporting and recognising the next generation of sporting talent in Malta through the continued awarding of the country’s best young athletes. On behalf of the Malta Sports Journalists Association, I extend my sincere gratitude to everyone involved, especially the management of Atlas Insurance, for their continued belief in our mission, our work, and the positive impact we strive to create within Maltese sport.”
Since their launch in January 2020, the Atlas Youth Athletes Awards have continued to evolve. The programme now recognises two athletes every month, one for achievements in local competition and one for performances on the international stage, reflecting the different pathways through which young athletes develop and compete.
These monthly awards culminate in the Atlas Youth Athlete of the Year Award, which is selected from all monthly winners over the previous year.
