Sarah Woods founded SHE – Social Hub Entrepreneurs in 2017, creating a dedicated platform for women founders to connect, collaborate and grow.
She won the JCI Entrepreneurial Accomplishment Award for her work with SHE in 2018.
“SHE is built on community, collaboration, empowerment, integrity and intentional growth. We lead with heart and purpose, believing that businesses flourish when people feel supported and connected. Every decision we make is guided by inclusivity, transparency and our commitment to lifting as we rise.”
SHE has built a thriving community of entrepreneurs through events, collaborations and workshops that have supported a number of women-led ventures, establishing strategic partnerships with organisations and industry leaders to expand access to resources, funding pathways and training.
It recognises community excellence through initiatives that spotlight emerging female leaders and successful women-led businesses.
Woods was inspired to lead SHE because she saw an ongoing gap in support, visibility and community for women entrepreneurs. Many women start businesses with passion and talent but lack access to a strong network, practical resources, or mentorship.
SHE was created to bridge that gap, providing a supportive ecosystem where women can feel seen, heard and fully equipped to grow sustainable, successful businesses.
“Success for me used to be purely about growth; more clients, bigger events, increased reach. Today, I define success by impact and transformation. If a woman walks away with renewed confidence, clearer direction, or a breakthrough that shifts her business forward, that is success. It’s less about scale and more about meaningful change.”
For Woods, balance is an ongoing practice, but she prioritises boundaries, rest and intentional downtime. Her go-to way to unwind is fitness and spending time with family.
Creating space for herself helps her show up more grounded and focused in the business, she says.
What advice would you give to someone looking to start or scale a business in your industry today?
Start with clarity – know your “why,” understand your audience and build a strong foundation before chasing scale.
Surround yourself with a supportive network, stay adaptable and don’t be afraid to ask for help. Collaboration is a superpower in this industry. And most importantly, believe in your value; confidence is often the first investment you need to make.
