Future Focus celebrates 25 years of inclusive education

Under the gilded vault of St. John’s Co-Cathedral, 153 new Future Focus graduates celebrated a major milestone in their careers on December 5, 2025, marking a historic moment for the Maltese educational institute.

The ceremony coincided with the institute’s 25th anniversary, transforming the event into a dual celebration of student achievement and institutional longevity.

Addressing the congregation, the Head of Institution paid tribute to the origins of Future Focus, which began with a vision to make education accessible to women who needed to balance studies with family life.

“Twenty-five years ago, a woman dared to dream,” the Head of Institution told the graduates. “She envisioned a place where learning would not be a privilege, but a right… And so, 25 years ago, our institution was born”.

A milestone for inclusive education

The ceremony honoured graduates from four distinct cohorts, significantly boosting Malta’s pool of qualified professionals in the inclusive education sector:

  • Master of Education in Facilitating Inclusive Education
  • Bachelor of Arts in Facilitating Inclusive Education
  • MQF Level 5 in Inclusive Education
  • OTHM Level 7 Diploma in Educational Management and Leadership

The graduates were praised as “advocates, encouragers, and changemakers” who ensure that “no child is left behind”.

“You look beyond challenges to see potential,” the graduates were told. “You meet them where they are and guide them, patiently and skilfully, to where they need to be”.

Commitment to corporate social responsibility

In accordance with the corporate social responsibility of the institution, a donation was made during the event to the Malta Trust Foundation.

This donation supports inclusivity in Malta, aligning with the values of compassion and equity that the graduates have studied throughout their courses.

Looking to the future: new programmes launched

Marking its quarter-century milestone, Future Focus used the occasion to look forward, announcing the accreditation of two new courses designed to further professionalise the local education sector:

  • Master of Education in Educational Leadership and Management
  • Master of Education in Primary Education

These new programmes are aimed at educators seeking permanent teaching warrants and those aspiring to lead educational institutions.

Future Focus

“Our institution may be small, but through the work which we do, its impact extends far and wide,” the Head of Institution noted during the closing address. “We are proud to be a hub for developing professionals who are not only skilled but deeply committed”.

Recognising excellence

The evening concluded with the presentation of Certificates of Outstanding Achievement to top-performing students in the Master’s and Bachelor’s cohorts, recognising those who achieved the highest overall marks.

As Future Focus enters its next 25 years, the message remains consistent: education is not just about attaining a qualification, but about the “extraordinary difference that one caring adult can make in the life of a child”.
