Unemployment rate in October stood at 3.1 per cent

According to figures released by the National Statistice Office (NSO), the unemployment rate for October 2025 stood at 3.1 per cent, an increase of 0.1 percentage point compared with the previous month, and an increase of 0.1 percentage point when compared with October 2024.

During October 2025, the number of unemployed persons stood at 10,653, an increase of 4.7 per cent compared with the previous month, and an increase of 7.4 per cent when compared to October 2024. 

While the 25 to 74 age group was the major contributor to the overall level of unemployment, totalling 7,854 persons (73.7 per cent), the number of unemployed youths amounted to 2,799 (26.3 per cent).

In October 2025, the unemployment rate for males stood at 3.2 per cent, increasing by 0.1 percentage points when compared to September 2025.

Meanwhile, the female’s unemployment rate stood at 3.1 per cent, increasing by 0.3 percentage points from the preceding month.

The unemployment rate for persons aged 15 to 24 years (youth unemployment rate) remained unchanged from September 2025, standing at 10.1 per cent, while the rate for those aged between 25 and 74 years stood at 2.5 per cent, increasing by 0.1 percentage points when compared to September 2025.
