Movements in Equity & Bond Indices
The MSE Equity Total Return Index (MSE) closed the week marginally higher by 0.3%, to settle at 10,062.568 points. A total of 21 equities were active, as eight advanced and eight declined. Turnover reached €0.9m over a total of 171 trades.
The MSE Corporate Bonds Total Return Index closed 0.5% higher, as it reached 1,167.426 points. Out of 77 active issues, 26 headed north, while another 26 closed in the opposite direction. The 4% Central Business Centres plc Unsecured € 2027-2033 issue recorded the best performance, up by 4.7%, to close at €90. Conversely, the 4.25% Mercury Projects Finance plc Secured € 2031 lost 3.5%, ending the week at €94.01.
The MSE MGS Total Return Index closed lower, by 0.3%, closing at 963.304 points. Out of 33 active issues, only four headed north while another 23 closed in the opposite direction. The 3.5% MGS 2034 headed the list of gainers, as it closed 1.5% higher at €100. On the other hand, the 3.8% MGS 2040 closed 4.4% lower at €95.38.
Top Market Movements
With 128,046 shares crossing the market across 35 transactions, Bank of Valletta plc was the most liquid equity of the week. The banking equity gained 0.9%, settling at its weekly high of €2.15 after dipping to a low of €2.10, with €271,698 recorded in turnover.
Having traded between €1.41 and €1.43 throughout the week, HSBC Bank Malta plc closed 0.7% higher at €1.42. A combined 11 transactions of 65,235 shares were recorded.
APS Bank plc closed the week 5.4% higher at its weekly high of €0.59, climbing off a low of €0.56 earlier in the period. Throughout the week, 34,705 shares were dealt across eight transactions, bringing total turnover to €19,868.
After reaching a high of $0.18 earlier in the week, FIMBank plc retreated 5.9% to close at its weekly low of $0.16. A total of eight deals brought 60,030 shares to market, with $8,728 changing hands over the week.
International Hotel Investments plc shares shed 5.6% to close at €0.59, having ranged between a low of €0.545 and a high of €0.605. A total of seven transactions accounted for €21,266 in trading value were recorded.
GO plc advanced 4.8% to close at its weekly high of €2.64, recovering from a low of €2.48 earlier in the period. A total of 23 deals worth €165,006 were executed.
Six deals accounted for the week’s activity in Malta International Airport plc, as the equity dropped by 0.8% to close at €6.15 after touching a high of €6.20. A total of 6,300 shares changed hands, with €38,735 recorded in turnover.
AX Real Estate plc ended the week unchanged at €0.49, with the equity’s activity during the period driven in part by its ongoing share buyback programme. A combined 14 transactions accounted for 325,000 shares, bringing total turnover to €159,250.
BMIT Technologies plc posted a 3.2% gain, closing at its weekly high of €0.26 after dipping to a low of €0.254. The technology equity saw 40,500 shares transacted across five deals, with total traded value reaching €10,482.
PG plc retreated 0.6% to close at €1.64, oscillating between a low of €1.54 and a high of €1.64 during the week. During the period nine deals covered 45,700 shares changed ownership.
Company Announcements
Plaza Centres plc (PZC) has entered into a promise of sale agreement to acquire a property in Tigné, Sliema. The property is leased to an established childcare operator, and the acquisition is expected to enhance the Company’s earnings upon completion. The transaction remains subject to several conditions that must be satisfied by the seller. The Board believes the acquisition aligns with the Company’s strategy of strengthening and diversifying its property portfolio and will update the market on any material developments.
In addition, the Board of PZC is scheduled to meet on Wednesday 5 August 2026, to consider and if thought fit approve, the Company’s Interim Financial Statements for the half-year ended 30 June 2026 while the Company’s share buy-back programme is expected to commence on or around August 6, 2026.
Meanwhile, MIDI plc announced that the promise of sale entered on December 19, 2025, to sell the eleven commercial premises which underlie the Pjazza Blocks as well as the building known as Unit T3 all situated at Tigne Point, was executed last Tuesday. The net sale proceeds of the eleven commercial properties referred to above will be partially applied towards the redemption of the Company’s €50m bond which is due on July 27, 2026.
PG plc announced that Mr Malcolm Camilleri resigned from the position of CEO of the PG Group of Companies as well as director of the Company and its subsidiaries. Mr Camilleri has been replaced by Mr Gianluca Borg, who has occupied the role of deputy CEO since 2024.
The Board of MIA plc will be meeting on July 30 to consider and approve the Group’s financial statements for the period between January and June 2026. During this meeting, the members of the board will also consider the payment of an interim dividend to the Company’s shareholders.
The Board of BMIT plc is scheduled to meet on August 5, to discuss the interim unaudited financial statements for the six-month period ended June 30, 2026, while the Board of GO plc is scheduled to meet on August 7 to consider and approve the interim unaudited financial statements for the six-month period ended June 30, 2026, and consider, if deemed appropriate, the declaration of an interim dividend.
