Mercury’s 5D flying-theatre experience Odyssey wins local and international awards

Including ‘Best Visitor Attraction’.

Odyssey, Mercury’s 5D immersive attraction that takes visitors on a sensory journey of Maltese history, has secured two major industry awards within a few months.

The experience, which includes a flying theatre, was honoured at the Malta Tourism Awards this week with the “Responsible Tourism Development Award – Best Visitor Attraction 2025.”

This national recognition follows a landmark international victory in London last November, where the project was named “Themed Entertainment and Attractions Project of the Year” at the prestigious AV Awards 2025.

Competing against the world’s most innovative projects, Odyssey’s technical partner, Sarner International, was awarded the top prize for the design and delivery of the attraction.

The global judging panel singled out the project for its flawless execution of the state-of-the-art 5D flying theatre and the multi-sensory “Dark Walk,” which redefines how history is told through immersive technology.

By blending 7,000 years of Maltese heritage with world-class technology, Odyssey has created a sustainable, high-quality experience that appeals to international travellers and local residents alike.

The awards underscore Mercury’s vision of delivering a contemporary, world-class destination that enhances Malta’s reputation on the Mediterranean stage.

Beyond formal accolades, Odyssey has also received public acclaim, currently ranking #1 of 34 things to do in St. Julian’s on TripAdvisor. With a consistent 5-star rating, Odyssey is highly acclaimed on all major online platforms.

For the team, this day-to-day recognition from guests is the true metric of success and the primary driver behind the attraction’s momentum. By fostering a culture of ‘true hospitality’ and maintaining a strictly ‘guest-focused’ approach, the staff works collaboratively to ensure every journey is seamless and impactful.

“These awards are a testament to the vision behind Mercury and the incredible hard work of the entire Odyssey team,” said a spokesperson for Odyssey. “This is proof that Malta is now home to attractions that don’t just compete, but win against the best in the world. We are proud to offer a journey that is as technologically advanced as it is culturally significant.”

Odyssey continues to welcome guests daily at the iconic Mercury tower in St Julian’s, offering a unique “all-in-one” journey through time, a 5D aerial flight over the islands, and unparalleled 360-degree views from the Level 33 observation deck.
