Leading private equity practitioner Albert Alsina will host a fireside chat with Brown’s Pharma founder Alexander Fenech at an event organised by PEVCA Malta on Tuesday, February 24.
The discussion will take place at the Casino Maltese in Valletta, starting at 5.30pm, and will focus on how private equity-style value creation frameworks can be applied by Maltese companies seeking to scale, professionalise operations and expand internationally.
Alsina is the founder of Mediterrania Capital Partners (MCP), a Malta-based, MFSA-licensed alternative investment fund manager best known for its investments across Africa and Southern Europe
He will draw on themes from his book, Value Creation in Private Equity, to outline practical approaches used by private equity investors to grow companies – ranging from strategic focus and governance to operational improvement and disciplined execution, with experience transforming multiple businesses into international unicorns.
Alsina recently told Times of Malta that MCP is preparing to launch a new €150 million South Europe fund by the end of 2026, with a mandate to take controlling stakes in 10 Southern European companies, including a number of Maltese businesses.
Fenech, meanwhile, will share how Brown’s Pharma is positioning itself for its next phase of growth, including internationalisation efforts shaped by what he describes as a private equity mindset.

Times of Malta reported earlier this month that the Brown’s team has been developing a new SaaS digital platform, codenamed Oxygen, which Fenech described as packaging “28 years of Brown’s know-how”.
The platform is intended as an end-to-end system supporting digital patient engagement, consultation workflows and prescription management, integrated with pharmaceutical fulfilment infrastructure.
Organisers said Tuesday’s conversation is aimed at founders, executives, investors and other stakeholders interested in scaling Maltese businesses, building export-ready operating models and understanding how private equity approaches value creation.
PEVCA Malta said the event forms part of its broader efforts to strengthen the local private equity and venture capital ecosystem by promoting knowledge-sharing between investors and entrepreneurs, and by encouraging practices that support sustainable growth.
Attendance is subject to registration, with places limited.
