Signs a new three-year agreement
MAPFRE MSV Life has reaffirmed its longstanding commitment to social responsibility by continuing its annual support for the refurbishment of the Et Iris Female Residential Drug Rehabilitation Programme at San Blas. This collaboration with Caritas Malta, now in its ninth year, forms part of the company’s ongoing efforts to promote inclusion, wellbeing, and recovery within the local community.
In a significant development, MAPFRE MSV Life has signed a new three-year support agreement with Caritas Malta, extending its commitment to the Et Iris programme up to 2027. This renewed partnership ensures continued investment in vital services that empower women to overcome addiction and rebuild their lives in a safe and nurturing environment.
Since the inception of this initiative in 2016, MAPFRE MSV Life has contributed to essential improvements in the facilities at Et Iris, helping to create a secure and supportive setting where women recovering from drug addiction can focus on personal healing and growth. The programme supports an average of 25 women annually, offering a comprehensive, person-centred rehabilitation journey.
Operated by Caritas Malta, Et Iris is a residential facility that provides a holistic therapeutic programme designed to address the physical, emotional, and social needs of its residents. Tailored exclusively for women, the service places a strong emphasis on re-integration into society, laying the groundwork for a drug-free and fulfilling life.
Speaking about the partnership, MAPFRE MSV Life Chief Executive Officer Elvira López de Lara Merida commented:
“We are proud to stand beside Caritas Malta in their vital work. Supporting Et Iris aligns perfectly with our core values of community care, dignity, and sustainable wellbeing. Seeing the positive impact this programme has on so many lives reaffirms the importance of long-term, focused support.”
The assistance provided by MAPFRE MSV Life has helped fund infrastructure improvements, the maintenance of living areas, and the creation of therapeutic spaces conducive to recovery. These enhancements have significantly improved the quality of care for residents and continue to support Caritas Malta’s dedicated team.
Caritas Malta Director Anthony Gatt also expressed appreciation for the ongoing collaboration:
“The generous and consistent help from MAPFRE MSV Life has allowed us to maintain a high standard of care at Et Iris. Their support goes beyond financial contributions—it represents a shared belief in the dignity and potential of every woman who walks through our doors.”
As MAPFRE MSV Life celebrates nearly a decade of partnership with Caritas Malta, both organisations look ahead with renewed purpose, united in their mission to empower individuals, restore hope, and foster resilience within the community.
