Eight years on the road, 6 years on your table: Bolt celebrates milestones in Malta

Bolt is celebrating two major milestones in Malta: eight years of ride-hailing services and six years of Bolt Food, marking nearly a decade of supporting local mobility, restaurants, couriers, and customers across the islands.

Since launching in Malta, Bolt has become part of everyday life, from Friday evening rides home to Saturday night food orders with friends.

Over the past six years, Maltese customers have shown a clear appetite for convenience and comfort food. Since launch, Bolt Food has delivered approximately:

  • 4,193,853 burgers
  • 3,423,162 pizzas
  • 475,877 sushi rolls

Orders delivered through the platform have grown exponentially, multiplying 35 times since the very first month of operations. Saturday has emerged as the most popular day for food delivery, with 7.30 pm being the peak time for orders.

The largest single food order ever placed on Bolt Food in Malta reached €992, while one customer ordered an impressive 68 main dishes in a single transaction.

Bolt’s ride-hailing service, which launched in Malta eight years ago, has seen consistent growth and increasing adoption by locals. In the past year alone, trips taken by local riders have grown in the double digits year-on-year.

Since launch, Bolt drivers in Malta have collectively travelled a distance equivalent to travelling around the Earth more than 12,000 times, making approximately three trips to the sun, or travelling to the moon and back over 600 times.

Fridays at 5pm stand out as the most popular time for rides, reflecting end-of-week travel and social plans. Malta International Airport remains the most popular pick-up location, while St Julian’s is the most frequently visited area on the platform.

Since launch, Bolt has facilitated millions of trips across the island, including journeys as long as 45 kilometres in a single ride. One of Bolt’s most loyal riders has completed over 1,400 trips on the platform in 2025.

Over the years, Bolt has partnered with hundreds of local restaurants and supported thousands of drivers and couriers in earning flexibly through the platform.

By combining technology with local partnerships, Bolt continues to invest in Malta’s digital and mobility ecosystem.

“As we celebrate eight years of ride-hailing and six years of Bolt Food in Malta, we’re proud of the role we’ve played in connecting people with the places, food and opportunities that matter to them,” said Ryan Mahoney, General Manager of Bolt ride-hailing services in Malta. “Malta has been an important market for Bolt, and we remain committed to delivering safe, reliable and affordable mobility and delivery services for years to come.”

As Bolt looks ahead, the company remains focused on improving safety features, expanding partnerships, and continuing to offer innovative solutions that make everyday life in Malta more convenient.
