SOFTSWISS, a leading global provider of technology solutions for the iGaming industry with a significant operational presence in Malta, has announced the appointment of Denis Romanovskiy as its first Chief Artificial Intelligence Officer (CAIO).
The creation of this new C-suite role underscores the company’s long-term commitment to innovation and further reinforces Malta’s position as a centre for advanced iGaming technology and regulatory leadership.
The appointment formalises SOFTSWISS’ strategy to treat artificial intelligence as core business infrastructure, reflecting AI’s growing role in shaping enterprise technology, productivity, and competitive advantage across global markets.
From its Maltese offices, together with its development hubs in Poland and an office in Georgia, the company continues to drive high-value technology development that supports operators worldwide.
Romanovskiy takes over as CAIO after serving as Deputy Chief Technology Officer at SOFTSWISS, where he played a key role in scaling the company’s technology platforms and engineering capabilities over the past five and a half years.
Prior to joining SOFTSWISS, he held development and leadership positions at EPAM Systems and Wargaming.Net, gaining extensive experience in enterprise software, large-scale technology platforms, and high-performance product environments.
In his new role, Romanovskiy will define and execute SOFTSWISS’ AI strategy and lead the rollout of the company’s AI Platform – a centralised, enterprise-grade infrastructure designed to securely and efficiently scale AI automation across the organisation.
The platform serves as a core infrastructure layer, connecting AI capabilities with corporate tools, systems, and data, while supporting strict access control, full auditability, and cost transparency.
These principles closely align with Malta’s emphasis on robust governance, compliance, and responsible innovation within the iGaming sector.
Ivan Montik, Founder of SOFTSWISS, commented: “The creation of the Chief AI Officer role is a clear testament to how critical artificial intelligence has become to the future of technology. AI is transforming how products are built, how businesses operate and how value is created. By investing early in a unified AI platform and dedicated leadership, SOFTSWISS is positioning itself at the forefront of this shift, turning innovation into secure, scalable, real-world results.”
Denis Romanovskiy, Chief Artificial Intelligence Officer at SOFTSWISS, added: “I am excited to take on this new challenge, as SOFTSWISS moves from experimentation to execution. We’ve seen first-hand the amazing things AI can do. Our focus now is on making AI a trusted, governed and economically efficient capability that delivers measurable productivity gains across every part of the business.”
The introduction of a dedicated AI leadership role enables SOFTSWISS to establish consistent standards, clear accountability, and full visibility into how artificial intelligence is developed and deployed across the organisation.
The AI Platform replaces fragmented tools with a single governed ecosystem, helping prevent uncontrolled ‘shadow AI’ usage and giving leadership insight into AI activity across a global workforce of more than 2,000 employees, including teams operating from Malta.
A key advantage of the platform is its ability to democratise innovation across the organisation. Business units such as HR, Sales, and Customer Support can independently design and deploy AI-powered workflows without over-reliance on central engineering teams.
This ‘build once, use everywhere’ approach significantly reduces duplicated development efforts and accelerates enterprise-wide AI adoption.
From its Maltese operations, SOFTSWISS continues to contribute to the island’s reputation as a forward-looking iGaming jurisdiction, combining cutting-edge technology with a strong focus on governance and sustainability.
In his role as CAIO, Romanovskiy will oversee the continued evolution of the AI Platform and scale AI solutions across all business functions, supporting SOFTSWISS’s ambition to lead the industry in responsible, enterprise-scale AI adoption.
