MSE Equity Price Index climbs to three-week high

The MSE Equity Price Index advanced by a further 0.58% to a three-week high of 4,146.8 points as the increase in five equities outweighed the decline in HSBC. Five other equities remained unchanged as overall trading value amounted to €0.23 million.

Bank of Valletta plc was the most actively traded equity for the fourth consecutive session as climbed by 0.9% to €2.15 across volumes of 31,811 shares. BOV will be publishing its interim results for the first half of 2026 on Wednesday 29 July.

GO plc surged by 5.6% to the €2.64 level across volumes totalling 15,333 shares.

GO’s IT services and digital infrastructure subsidiary BMIT Technologies plc advanced by 2.4% to €0.26 across four deals totalling 32,500 shares.

BMIT’s associate Malta Properties Company plc moved 0.5% higher to €0.41 on volumes of 36,371 shares.

Quinco Holdings plc closed the session 12.8% higher at €0.88, although the volume weighted average price across the 18,164 shares that traded stood at the previous closing price of €0.78.

Today’s only negative performer was HSBC Bank Malta plc which eased by 0.7% to the €1.42 level on five trades totalling 14,728 shares.

AX Real Estate plc traded flat at the €0.49 level across 75,000 shares.

APS Bank plc closed unchanged at the €0.59 level after recovering from an intraday low of 3.4% across 30,085 shares.

FIMBank plc (USD0.16), Lombard Bank Malta plc (€0.73) and Simonds Farsons Cisk plc (€5.70) all traded flat at their previous closing price level.

The RF MGS Index moved higher for the first time in five sessions as it edged up by 0.05% to 887.3 points, although it still shed 0.34% this week. The recovery in CBM bid prices for medium and longer-dated MGS reflected the pullback in euro area yields, with the German 10-year bund yield easing to 3.18% from the previous session’s 15-year high of 3.20%. Likewise, Brent oil price retreated below USD98 per barrel, but it is still 12% higher than last week.

Yesterday, the Treasury Department published the prices and yields for the new Malta Government Stocks Issue offered to retail investors, with both new MGS offered at par (100%). As such the 3.80% MGS 2036 (IV) will have a yield to maturity of 3.7997% while the 4.25% MGS 2046 (II) will have a yield to maturity of 4.2497%. Subscriptions for the General Public open on Monday 27 July 2026 and close on Wednesday 29 July 2026.
