Maltese healthcare technology company EBO continued to strengthen its presence within the UK’s National Health Service (NHS) with the achievement of a series of commercial, regulatory and clinical milestones which further highlighted the growing demand for digitally enabled patient services.
This week, the company secured a major contract with NHS Harrow Health in London to deploy its SPAN Digital Front Door and Intelligent Patient Portal platform. The solution is designed to streamline patient access and administrative workflows by integrating with EMIS, NHS Login and the NHS App.
Key features include appointment management, patient communications, assessments, document access and referral pathways, helping healthcare providers improve efficiency while maintaining strong governance standards.
EBO also achieved UK Class 1 Medical Device registration for its generative AI solution. The regulatory approval is expected to enhance confidence among NHS organisations by demonstrating compliance with safety, governance and clinical oversight requirements as AI becomes increasingly embedded in patient-facing healthcare services.
Additionally, Health Innovation East Midlands also recognised EBO’s ADHD Digital Pathway as an exemplar of neurodiversity innovation. The pathway addresses rising ADHD referral volumes and lengthy waiting lists through structured data collection, waiting-list validation, risk identification and continuous patient engagement, offering a potential model for wider NHS adoption.
“Our business with the UK’s NHS enabled us to conduct research with the Patients Association which not only strengthened our market position but helped us confirm how AI-enabled healthcare services will find broad public support if transparency, safety and human accountability remain central,” explained CEO Gege Gatt.
“It is through such ongoing industry engagement and research that EBO continues to contribute to discussions around responsible AI adoption in healthcare,” Dr Gatt added.
These milestones continued to define EBO’s evolution from a digital engagement provider into a broader healthcare infrastructure platform supporting NHS transformation. Since entering the UK market in 2018, EBO has grown into a trusted NHS technology partner, with its AI solutions now supporting healthcare services that reach more than 16 million patients.
