On June 4, 2026, the day marking the 80th anniversary of Vassallo Group, 80 representatives from across the organisation, including shareholders, directors, management and employees, as well as former directors and retirees who have maintained a strong relationship with the group, gathered at San Martin Estates to plant 80 trees in celebration of the milestone.
As a CSR initiative, the event reflected the group’s long-standing dedication to sustainability and its belief in contributing positively to Malta’s environment.
Tree planting was chosen not only for its environmental value, but also as a symbol of growth, renewal and the deep roots of a family-built legacy that continues to grow across generations.
Addressing attendees, Group CEO Pio Vassallo reflected on the group’s eight-decade journey: “Family businesses are like trees. We plant seeds today not for ourselves alone, but for future generations. The shade we enjoy is the result of those who came before us, and as custodians of this legacy, our responsibility is to preserve what we have inherited, nurture it, strengthen it and pass it on in a better state than we found it. That is how family businesses endure, and that is how the Vassallo Group has continued to grow for 80 years. Today is a remembrance of the past, a celebration of the present and a dream for the future.”
Following the planting ceremony, guests gathered at the grotto of San Martin for refreshments and a cake-cutting moment to celebrate the anniversary.
