NSTF hosts the 36th edition of the Mini European Assembly

The National Student Travel Foundation (NSTF) has hosted the 36th edition of the NSTF Mini European Assembly (MEA), bringing together some of Malta’s most promising students for a dynamic and engaging simulation of the European Parliament.

The final session, held in parliament, marked the culmination of months of research, debate and collaboration. Students represented different European countries, discussing key issues and proposing resolutions that reflect the values and challenges of today’s Europe.

This year’s top honour was awarded to Germany, represented by students from the University of Malta, who placed first for their outstanding performance. Spain, represented by Junior College, secured second place, while Denmark, represented by St Aloysius College, achieved third place.

Individual accolades were also presented in recognition of exceptional talent and dedication.

The ‘Best Speaker Award’ was awarded to Jake Briffa, representing Finland, for his eloquence, confidence and strong argumentation skills.

The ‘Best Effort Award’ was presented to Sarah Aija Elkekli, representing Romania, in recognition of her commitment, enthusiasm and perseverance throughout the programme.

The final session was chaired by the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, David Agius, whose guidance ensured a professional and engaging parliamentary experience for all participants. The event was further enriched by keynote addresses from  MPs Naomi Cachia and Bernice Bonello, who inspired students with their insights and encouragement.

The NSTF Mini European Assembly continues to serve as a platform for young people to develop critical thinking, public speaking and leadership skills, while fostering a deeper understanding of European affairs and democratic processes.

The winners will have the opportunity to visit the European institutions in Strasbourg and Brussels, further enhancing their educational experience.
