XCA launches new symposium ‘XCA Dialogues’

As part of biennial programme for Malta’s construction sector.

The organisers of the Excellence in Construction Awards (XCA) have announced the launch of XCA Dialogues, a new symposium forming part of a biennial programme for Malta’s construction sector.

Under this structure, XCA Dialogues will take place in May 2026, while the Excellence in Construction Awards will return in 2027 to once again recognise outstanding projects and achievements of those contractors working to elevate standards across the local construction industry.

The inaugural edition of XCA Dialogues will be held on 15 May 2026 at Corinthia St George’s Bay under the theme: Building Better: Innovation, Wellbeing & Social Responsibility in Construction.

The event will be formally opened by The Honourable Dr Jonathan Attard, Minister for Justice and the Reform of the Construction Sector, setting the stage for a national discussion around innovation, standards and responsible development within the built environment.

Designed as a platform for knowledge exchange and industry dialogue, XCA Dialogues will bring together professionals from across the construction and built environment sector, alongside policymakers, academics and future professionals.

Programme highlights

The one-day symposium will feature keynote speakers, panel discussions and interactive sessions addressing key issues shaping the sector, including:

  • Building Excellence: Defining the Modern Contractor — A panel discussion with past XCA winners and industry experts exploring leadership, collaboration and evolving standards within the industry.
  • Engineering Change: Modern Methods of Construction — A keynote examining how industrialised construction methods, digital design and offsite manufacturing are transforming project delivery.
  • Engineering Innovation: Steel Additive Manufacturing — A presentation highlighting how emerging technologies such as metal 3D printing are reshaping structural engineering and design possibilities.
  • Operating with Integrity: Constructing Responsibly — A keynote exploring the importance of accountability, ethical leadership and responsible project delivery across the construction sector.
  • Building the Future Workforce Through Innovation — A panel discussion focused on workforce development, skills and how innovation is shaping the next generation of construction professionals.

In addition to the formal programme, the event will include live demonstrations, academic research discussions and curated networking sessions, providing opportunities for industry professionals to engage directly with emerging talent and new ideas.

Organisers say the introduction of XCA Dialogues reflects the growing need for a dedicated space where the sector can engage in forward-looking discussion beyond the recognition of achievements celebrated through the Excellence in Construction Awards.

“While the XCA Awards recognise the best projects and accomplishments across the industry, XCA Dialogues creates an opportunity to step back and examine the ideas, standards and responsibilities shaping the future of construction in Malta,” said Reuben Xuereb Chairman & CEO at QP.

Tickets for XCA Dialogues go on sale 15 April here. Organisers expect strong interest from professionals across the construction, engineering and development sectors.
