Corinthia to expand its Italy portfolio with luxury Tuscany hotel

Corinthia has signed a deal that will see it develop and operate a luxury hotel in Tuscany.

The Corinthia Borgo di Perolla will be the Malta-based luxury hospitality group’s third hotel in Italy, following one launched this year in Rome and another in development in Lake Como.

Set in the heart of the Tuscan countryside, the Tuscan hotel is set to open in 2030 and is being undertaken in partnership with entrepreneur Gaetano Buglisi and his BGenera Group of companies. The project was advised by Fortvny, alongside Harry Mills Sciò.

The 80-key hotel will be set on the 1,300-hectare Perolla Estate of woodland, olive groves and vineyards and within reach of the medieval town of Massa Marittima, Castiglione della Pescaia beaches and the Punta Alta hot springs.

It is being designed by the Milan-based alErta design studio and will feature rooms, suites and villas, a lively piazza and various restaurants and amenities, including a spa and restored historic chapel for weddings and private celebrations.

In a statement announcing the project, Corinthia said organic farming on the estate of produce such as olive oil, honey and wine would be used to support cuisine offered by the hotel as part of its farm-to-fork philosophy.

Simon Naudi, Group CEO of Corinthia Group said the hotel would help strengthen Corinthia’s presence in Italy.

It will be a destination shaped by its environment, its community and its heritage – brought to life through a shared vision of sustainable luxury and meaningful guest experiences,” he said.

Gaetano Buglisi, Founder and CEO of BGenera Group, said the company wants to work with Corinthia to “shape a destination where history, landscape and lifestyle come together in a way that feels timeless.”

The signing represents Corinthia’s third hotel in Italy. Corinthia Rome, located on the historic Piazza del Parlamento, opened earlier this month, and Corinthia Lake Como is scheduled to launch in 2028.

In the past 18 months alone, Corinthia has opened landmark luxury hotels in Brussels, New York, Bucharest, and Rome.
