APS Bank CEO Marcel Cassar recently participated in a panel session during the ‘From Oversight to Insight’ conference, organised by the Malta Financial Services Authority (MFSA) in collaboration with the Institute of Internal Auditors Malta Chapter (IIA Malta).
The well-attended conference focused on internal audit and governance within Malta’s financial sector, bringing together industry professionals from licenced financial entities.
Titled ‘The interplay between the board, audit committee and management,’ the session addressed the practical situations and challenges faced by boards, their committees and management in ensuring sound governance within a modern bank. The discussion covered technological change, evolving customer expectations and the importance of effective audit oversight.
Cassar said: “Such interplay helps ensure a well-informed approach to good governance, risk management, internal controls and regulatory compliance. It also strengthens accountability and oversight, enabling banks to identify issues early, make sound decisions and safeguard their financial integrity and reputation.”
