Atlas Insurance is supporting the project THRIVE! (Training for Holistic Readiness, Innovation and Vocational Enablement), a twelve-month initiative developed and led by Blue Door Education, through the Atlas Insurance Community Involvement Fund. The project addresses the practical and social challenges faced by refugees, asylum seekers and migrants in crisis in Malta, with a focus on literacy, employability and community participation.
THRIVE! is Blue Door Education’s flagship project for 2026. Structured over twelve months, it is delivered through three learning tracks focusing on language and digital skills, community-based innovation, and vocational readiness. The programme emphasises practical learning and participation, with training held in accessible community settings across Malta.
As part of the project’s delivery, members of TeamAtlas will be actively involved across all three learning tracks. Their participation includes observing and supporting literacy and digital skills sessions, taking part in community-based sustainability workshops, and contributing to vocational training through CV preparation, mock interviews and employment-readiness activities.
Catherine Calleja, Chair of the Atlas Insurance Community Involvement Fund Committee, explained that the fund was set up to support initiatives that respond to areas where Malta continues to face challenges in meeting its Sustainable Development Goals, stating that “in this way, we are able to back projects that are grounded in real needs and ensure that our community investment is directed where it can make a tangible difference. THRIVE! also reflects Atlas Insurance’s belief that employee involvement adds value to this approach, allowing staff to contribute their time and experience in a way that complements the work being carried out by Blue Door Education.”
Justine Lubnow, President of the Board and Co-Founder of Blue Door Education, commented: “We are very excited to launch THRIVE!, our twelve-month flagship project for 2026. THRIVE! reflects our commitment to meeting people where they are and equipping them with the tools to move forward with dignity and purpose. The programme has been carefully structured around a deep understanding of the practical and social challenges faced by refugees and migrants, ensuring that support is targeted where it is needed most. The involvement of TeamAtlas further strengthens this approach, connecting learning with real-world experience and demonstrating that the wider community is invested in their success.”
THRIVE! aligns primarily with SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities) through its focus on accessible education and skills development for marginalised learners, while also contributing to SDG 4 (Quality Education) by strengthening literacy and digital competencies. The project further supports SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production) through its sustainability and upcycling component, which promotes awareness of reuse and responsible resource use.
