A graduate of the University of Oxford with an MA in Philosophy, Politics and Economics, Helen Chorley spent 11 years on the trading floor at JPMorgan, specialising in global markets and risk management.
She went on to become the original and only female ‘Shark’ on Sky TV’s Property Elevator, appearing for four series and earning a reputation as the numbers-driven investor with a love of spreadsheets.
Chorley has also served as a judge for numerous awards in the UK and Malta. In 2025, she had the honour of hosting a women’s leadership panel for HRH The Duchess of Edinburgh on behalf of BPW Valletta.
Her recent accolades include being named Global Woman Magazine Investor of the Year 2025 and being listed on the Ideas Community New Year’s Honours List 2026, an exclusive recognition awarded to just 25 individuals.
After years in high-pressure financial environments, Chorley saw a clear gap between financial success and personal fulfilment. Many capable people were doing ‘well on paper’ but felt burned out, disconnected or unsure what came next.
Her work now bridges rigorous financial thinking with modern leadership and personal development – making complex ideas clear, practical and engaging.
She focuses on helping founders and investors build sustainable success commercially, emotionally and strategically, rather than chasing growth at any cost.
“Malta has a vibrant, fast-evolving entrepreneurial ecosystem, and this kind of clear, human and accessible approach to leadership and money feels more relevant than ever.”
For Chorley, collaboration over competition is a core principle.
She is deeply committed to lifting others as she climbs, creating environments where people feel seen, supported and challenged to grow.
Earlier in her career, success was measured in titles, performance metrics and financial outcomes.
Today, success is far broader. It includes health, having the space to think, the freedom to choose, depth of relationships, impact, doing work that feels aligned and the courage to build wealth that creates options – not obligations.
Financial success still matters – she is a numbers person at heart – but it’s now one pillar rather than the whole structure.
“I’m big on straight talking and calm leadership. Life’s too short – and business too serious – for unnecessary drama. And not fogetting fun! Business works best when people are engaged, curious and enjoying the process not just chasing the outcome.”
Chorley stays close to emerging trends through angel investing, advisory roles and ongoing education.
This includes how technology is reshaping investing, visibility and personal brands, as well as how AI is changing the way businesses scale and communicate.
At the same time, she is increasingly focused on the human side of leadership – emotional intelligence, communication and resilience – because as technology accelerates, those skills become more valuable, not less, she says.
“Balance for me is an ongoing challenge, a tightrope Im continually wobbling along! I’m very intentional about recovery – time by the sea, long walks in nature, swimming, dance and meaningful conversations with people I trust.”
Chorley has recently developed a highly selective mentoring and advisory model that combines strategic finance, visibility coaching and personal leadership.
It is deliberately intimate and bespoke, allowing for depth rather than scale, and has led to profound shifts for clients both professionally and personally.
What advice would you give to someone looking to start or scale a business in your industry today?
Get clear on your fundamentals before chasing growth – your numbers, your energy and your values. Too many people scale chaos.
Also, don’t underestimate visibility. Being excellent is not enough if no one knows what you do or why it matters.
Learn to communicate clearly, ask for support and build relationships early – not just when you need something.
