Air Atlanta Europe becomes first in Europe to operate Boeing 777-300ERSF

Air Atlanta Europe has reached a major milestone with the commencement of its first commercial flight using the newly converted Boeing 777-300ERSF, commonly referred to as the ‘Big Twin’. The aircraft is being operated on behalf of Fly Meta and Hungary Airlines.

The Boeing 777-300ERSF is the world’s first passenger-to-freighter conversion of the 777-300ER platform. With this achievement, Air Atlanta Europe becomes the first airline in Europe and only the second worldwide to place this aircraft type into commercial service.

“Operating the first 777-300ERSF in Europe is a challenge we set ourselves and successfully accomplished. It reinforces Air Atlanta Europe’s position at the forefront of wide-body cargo operations,” said Pall Arnason, Managing Director of Air Atlanta Europe.

Air Atlanta Europe is a Malta-based cargo and passenger ACMI operator with a fleet of 11 Malta-registered (9H) Boeing 777 and Boeing 747 aircraft.

With the Boeing 747 having served as Air Atlanta’s backbone and remaining central to operations for years ahead, the introduction of the ‘Big Twin’ marks the beginning of the next chapter in the company’s cargo airline legacy.

“The ‘Big Twin’ represents a significant technical and operational milestone for our organisation and underlines our capability to operate next-generation wide-body freighters,” Arnason added.

A second Boeing 777-300ERSF is already on the way and is expected to enter service in April 2026.
